CALL MY WINE BLUFF

Can you tell the difference between a Chardonnay and a Sauvignon Blanc or between a Merlot and a Pinot Noir? Come and join us for an evening of wine tasting that will test your taste buds and your gullibility.

For each wine tasted, three rival descriptions will be provided by Master of Wine, Nancy Gilchrist, and by two PADS regulars, John O'Shea and Richard Cserjen. It will be up to you to decide who is bluffing.

A Most enjoyable evening - and yes, surprisingly, despite the efforts of John and Richard in bluffing, the difference was told and the wine enjoyed. Thank you for helping FoPC to raise another £1500 towards the "Saving Penshurst Church' appeal.

The thermometer in the village now stands at £481500.

Crag Ogden Concert

The concert was a great success with more than 200 people packed onto the church to experience the wonderful guitar playing of Craig Ogden. More than £500 was raised for the Saving Penshurst Church Appeal.

'Married in Penshurst Church' open day - a great success

We were delighted to welcome so many couples who had been married in the church back for our 'Married In Penshurst Church' open day.  Over a hundred people had booked to come, but there seemed to more who drooped in.   the day included an exhibition of eight wedding dresses worn by brides in the church over the last six decades, a bell-ringing demonstration, a musical recital by the choir and a talk on the church's history and the growing village archive. The climax came as forty couples (some married for less than a year, some for more than fifty)  processed proudly back down the aisle to the sound of Widor's Toccata on the organ.  The day raised over £4,000 toward the 'Saving Penshurst Church' appeal.

The Americans came to Penshurst and, "just lurved the quaint old church and the bell ringing was just wonderful"!

We welcomed twenty-two American visitors to the church to take part in two special bell ringing sessions. The visitors loved every minute of it and were hugely impressed with the church and the abilities of our bell ringers! Funny how often it takes "outsiders" for us to appreciate just what a precious asset Penshurst has.
