How You Can Help - A good start is to become a 'Friend of Penshurst Church' by making a donation through 'Gift Aid' - there are a number of ways you can do this:

There are different ways in which you can support the FoPC cause. Before we list the different ways in which you can contribute, we would like you to take the time to learn about what it is we are trying to achieve, by reading the next few paragraphs.

Our aims and objectives are: To increase public awareness of this fine building and its rich history, by organising events, encouraging more frequent and broader use of the building, attract individual donations and organise other fund-raising activities to help, protect, restore and improve the fabric of the church and its grounds.

We really do have to thank those who have helped in our efforts to raise the amount necessary to make the sympathetic changes to the church that will allow more activities to take place, such as concerts, plays and meetings that bring in the necessary funds. We are truly encouraged and you may have noticed that the thermometer in the village now reads more than £420,000 - a truly magnificent figure.

Charities Aid Foundation

If you have a CAF account, you can make out a CAF cheque to 'Friends of Penshurst Church' and send it to the campaign office shown on the contacts page. CAF will already have claimed 25% Gift Aid relief for you (and deducted 5% for administration) before you write your cheque. If you would like to sponsor a specific item from the list below, your cheque will need to be for the gross cost, not the net cost.

Personal or Business Cheque

You can send an ordinary cheque through the post to 'Saving Penshurst Church' Appeal, Friends of Penshurst Church, Steamhammer Lodge, Penshurst, Kent TN11 8HZ. If you are a UK taxpayer, please download the 'Gift Aid' form to make your Gift Aid declaration so that we can claim the extra 25% Gift Aid on top of your donation (28p until April 2011). Donations made to: Friends of Penshurst Church (charity no: 1133172)

Online

You can give online through virginmoneygiving.com. They will claim the 25% basic Gift Aid tax relief, add it to your gift and deduct 2% for their administration before handing on the money to Saving Penshurst Church. Click here to donate through virginmoneygiving.

Gift Aid Tax Relief & Gift Aid Form

Saving Penshurst Church will be able to reclaim 25p in the £ (28p before April 2011) on top of any gift from a UK taxpayer who signs a 'Gift Aid' declaration. If you are a higher rate taxpayer, then you can reclaim further tax at the time of your next personal tax return - if you are a 50% tax payer, you will get 37.5% of the cost of your gift back. In other words, a 50% taxpayer's gift will end up being worth twice as much to the campaign as the cost to the contributor.
If you are a higher rate taxpayer you can also benefit by reclaiming from Inland Revenue the difference between the basic 20% and higher rate of tax for the amount of your gift.
The table in the document you can download by clicking here - shows how a higher rate taxpayer wishing to donate can considerably increase the value of their donation for the benefit of the Friends of Penshurst Church charity.

Sponsorship Items

You can sponsor any one of many different parts of the project with which you might like to be associated - there are many items (items that will be listed here shortly) to fit any purse and when you complete the "Gift Aid' form you may choose the item you wish to sponsor. Wherever practical, the donor(s)' name(s) will be recorded on the item. All donors names will be recorded in the church for posterity in a special way.
